Alright, let’s jump into the takeaways tonight, of which there are three:
Don’t you wish you can bottle the Revs’ high press when it works so well for use later?
Before we get to the not-so-good stuff, let’s be uber-positive about what New England did in the first half an hour, 40 minutes Saturday night.
We can be absolutely honest and stand and applaud at the way the Revolution came out against the Crew. They played the high press, with an incredibly high line of contention in the early goings — Juan Agudelo, Carles Gil, and Juan Fernando Caicedo — and did so in such a splendid fashion that they had Columbus bewildered. I had the Revs for five takeaways in the first few minutes of the match, and that just built from there; of the outfield players, I didn’t have Caicedo for a takeaway.
