Bedard’s Weekend Briefing 01.11.19: Celtics lose and have drama, Bruins lose again to Caps, Chargers coming

[get_snippet] [theme-my-login show_title=0]

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if I'll need to shovel the 3-5 inches of non-existent snow predicted earlier in the week...

  • The big news was the little shoving match between Marcus Morris and Jaylen Brown last night. B-Robb has all the relevant information, including the laziness on Brown's part that started the whole thing.
  • Largely, this isn't a huge deal. Compared to other NBA teams, this is a lover's spat. But still, this team...

  • Any excuse to include The Hills in any post.
  • But, seriously, what is it with this team? Not just off this incident, but it's very clear this team is missing a strong leader in that locker room and it could end up costing them. Either Al Horford needs to step up and raise his voice, or Danny Ainge might seriously need to consider making a deal for one.
  • It's an issue. As we've learned over the many years with the Patriots, it's not the best 12 that wins the title, it's about the right 12. More is not more for these Celtics.
  • Bruins just can't beat the Caps. They played well last night, but every time the Bruins made a bid, the Caps just shut them down.
  • Sweet shot from Ryan Donato.
  • Mookie Betts could get a record-arbitration award.
  • High school teammates James White and Phillip Dorsett could be huge this weekend for Patriots.
  • The Chargers are awful at linebacker. That and left guard might be the plan of attack for the Patriots.
  • The MLS draft is today. It's kind of like the MLB draft — in that you have no clue when you're going to get contributions from any of the players — with better legs and cooler accents.

Time to hit the links...
