- This will stand as the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Bruins and Sabres, with both clubs tied with 50 points on the year. Currently, Boston is in third place in the Atlantic Division, while Buffalo is in the first Wild Card spot.
- Boston is looking for its fourth straight win — a streak that started when the Bruins rallied back to best the Sabres in overtime, 3-2, back on Dec. 29. Buffalo is 4-5-1 in its last 10 games.
- Colby Cave will be the scratched forward up front for Saturday’s game, while David Backes will return to the lineup and skate on the second line alongside David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk.
- The “Kid” line is back, with Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson centering Ryan Donato and Danton Heinen on the third line. It will be interesting to see if that assortment can go those three back on track.
- Boston will have a leg up in the weekend matchup, as Buffalo star Jack Eichel will sit out of the contest due to an upper-body injury. Last time he was at the Garden, Eichel manhandled the Bruins with a four-point showing in a 4-2 victory for the Sabres.
