FOXBOROUGH -- Good news for the Patriots on this clear and chilly Wednesday -- they had perfect attendance at the start of the first practice of the week. That includes tight end Dwayne Allen, who sustained a knee injury in the loss to the Titans last month, and has been on and off the practice field the last couple of weeks as a result. We'll get a full report as to who might be limited when the injury report is released at 4 p.m., but it's as good a start as possible to this week of action.
To have a special season, you need to get a little lucky. To that end, the Patriots have managed to avoid some stars at full strength over the course of the 2018 season, like Chicago’s Khalil Mack. They may have caught another break this week, as Miami cornerback Xavien Howard sounds like he’s a question mark when it comes to Sunday’s game against New England.
Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Howard -- who picked off Tom Brady twice last year in Miami and is the NFL's interception leader this season -- sustained a knee injury on his second pick last Sunday against the Bills.
“Well, his second interception he just got hit awkwardly around his knees, so you know we’re just going to kind of go through the week and see what it brings,” Gase told New England reporters on a conference call Wednesday. “It’s just tough to say is he going or is he not, I’m not going to know until we get closer to the end.
“I mean, if he’s not your best player, he’s one of our best players and, you know, we just got to make sure that we have contingency plans for whatever this scenario calls for.”
Adam Gase talking as if he doesn't think Xavien Howard will be playing on Sunday.
"Other guys got to step up," Gase said.

Here's a look at the Patriots' injury report. Good that no one was out, but there are a few intriguing names who were limited on Wednesday.
