The Bruins’ injury woes on the blue line continue to get worse.

After taking a puck to the throat during Monday’s game against Toronto, Kevan Miller is expected to miss at least a minimum of five weeks due to cartilage damage in his larynx.

Miller was sent to the hospital after exiting the contest in the first period, staying overnight in Toronto to undergo further evaluations. Bruce Cassidy noted postgame that initial x-rays for Miller were negative.

Miller’s injury was revealed following a CT scan, which was confirmed upon his return to Boston.

“After the game, we got good news," Cassidy said. "We didn’t think it was that serious. I guess they looked at it again and obviously found something. We were worried about his breathing, swallowing. Thought if that calmed down, he’d be okay. But obviously they found something else, so in the end, it will probably be at least a four-week injury."

"Unfortunate for the person first," Cassidy said of Miller, who has missed a total of 62 games due to injury over the last four seasons. "He plays his heart out — two blocked shots that put him on the shelf, but that’s his game. … We’ll miss him. You saw, when he was out of the lineup, we weren’t as hard to play against, so that’s going to be the part we’ll really miss.”

“Felt good today, talked to him after," Cassidy said of Carlo. "So he’s a possibility for tomorrow. We thought, early in the week, he’d be Thursday or Saturday. I guess we were hoping. So tomorrow is a possibility. He’ll skate in the morning, see if he feels better, any repercussions from today’s physical contact and I assume if he wakes up and feels good tomorrow, there’s a good chance he'll play.”

“Craziness, I guess, is the best word for it," Carlo said. "I haven’t been in the league this long, but I’ve talked to a couple guys that have been here for a lot longer than me and they say that they’ve never seen anything like this. Hopefully, we can come back towards the end of the year with everybody that we need. Myself included, that’s the time that I want to be healthy and going."
