9:32: FINAL: Bruins fall to the Leafs, 4-2.

9:31: Hyman with the empty netter. 4-2 Toronto.

9:30: Empty net.

9:19: Yikes. Jake DeBrusk takes a puck to the back of his helmet. He appears to be OK.

9:11: B's still holding a 31-22 edge in shots on goal, but Toronto actually has more scoring chances. Quality over quantity.

9:06: Heinen rings one off the post, then Marleau is denied down the other end of the ice by a sprawling Halak.

8:56: Third period underway.

8:46: End second: Frustrating period for the B's, who score twice but Boston trails, 3-2. SOG in favor of Boston, 28-18.

8:37: And the Leafs convert - Leivo with his fourth goal of the season.

8:35: Bjork off for a trip. Leafs dangerous power play coming up.

8:33: David Pastrnak in his last 11 games against Toronto (inc. playoffs): 11 goals, 11 assists. His second goal of the game ties things up.

8:27: Brad Marchand nearly scored 3 times on that power play. Leafs kill it off, then score seconds later. Ouch. 2-1 Leafs with 6:54 to go in the second. Ozhiganov with the tally.

8:23: Marchand can't cash in on the backhand, then he rings one off the crossbar. B's power play still looking pretty damn good so far.

8:22: Toronto called for too many men. B's go back to the power play.

8:14: Some in-game adjustments - JFK centering the third line and Cave up with Bergeron and Marchand.

8:11: Jake DeBrusk came thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to his 11th goal of the season. Great glove save by Andersen.

8:08: An extended power play stretch ends with Marchand feeding Pastrnak for his 18th goal of the season. 1-1 game.

8:04: Bruins head to the power play. Moore is hooked by Lindholm.

PREGAME NOTES

With
Sean Kuraly
scratched, the bottom six underwent some reshuffling for Monday’s game, with
Joakim Nordstrom
moving back to center on the third line with
Anders Bjork and Noel Acciari
, while
Colby Cave
will round out the bottom six with
Chris Wagner
and
David Backes
on the wing.

After missing the last two games as a healthy scratch, look for Bjork to be more aggressive getting to the net as he looks to get his offensive game rolling.

The goaltender rotation continues for the Black and Gold, with
Jaroslav Halak
expected to start in net tonight. It wouldn’t have been much of a surprise if
Bruce Cassidy
opted to roll with
Tuukka Rask
once again, given his strong play of late and his history against Toronto (16-7-2, .925 save percentage over 28 regular-season games.)

Boston will once again be shorthanded due to injury tonight, but the Maple Leafs are also missing some big guns in front — with
Auston Matthews
still out but on the cusp of a returning after missing the entire month due to a shoulder injury. Still locked in a contract dispute,
William Nylander
has yet to play in a game for Toronto this season, though a resolution might be coming, with the forward forced to sign a new before Dec. 1 if he wants to play at all this season.

On a team with so much young talent, the Leafs will also recognize the elder statesman on the roster — with 39-year-old Patrick Marleau set to play in his 1,600th career game in the NHL. Only 10 other players in league history have accomplished that milestone.
