BSJ Daily Briefing 10.17.18: Another Boston sweep (yawn) as Sox silence Houston, C's beat Sixers down taken in Houston (Regular Features)

HOUSTON — Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder what Jackie Bradley will do for an encore (three-run double, grand slam ... cycle off real pitchers?) ...

  • The overwhelming feeling I have after last night at Minute Maid Park is ... Man, these Red Sox have some cojones.

  • Three-straight hits on the road to take a 2-0 lead. Every time the Astros answered, the Red Sox had another answer ...

  • I mean, these guys are unreal. I have to think it starts with Alex Cora, as I've written many times before. This is basically the same team that turtled in the postseason under John Farrell. Under Cora, suddenly these guys just walk around like they own every stadium? What is he saying to these guys? Why are they playing like this? WHAT'S THE SECRET SAUCE?

  • It was good to see Jose Altuve finally look a little bit by himself. These teams are so good, I want to see the stars battle full-tilt. Time for Mookie to get going. J.D. too ...

  • It's one thing to be hurt, like Altuve, it's another just to have a pitching staff execute.

  • Has Joel Embiid picked his stuff off the Garden floor yet? Heard he dropped a few items.

  • Celtics win going away and Kyrie Irving doesn't score until the second half? Who do these guys think they are, the Warriors? (Maybe they are)

  • No pressure Bruins ... and Tuukka. Everyone else has turned the double with the Sox.

  • While you were sleeping ... Dodgers evened the NLCS in 13 innings with ... hustling Manny Machado?
