- Expect Joakim Nordstrom to remain on the second line for the time being. He may not project as a regular top-six contributor for an entire NHL campaign, but Nordstrom’s speed and 200-foot game has been a strong complement to the established forwards on that line in David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk.
- While Nordstrom will remain in a top-six role for now, Bruce Cassidy made another tweak to the lineup, with Ryan Donato returning to the ice after sitting out of Thursday’s win against Edmonton. Donato earned reps on the third line during Friday’s practice, switching in and out at times with fellow winger Danton Heinen. The Harvard prospect also saw time on the B’s second power-play unit with DeBrusk, David Backes, Charlie McAvoy and Krejci.
- Heinen, who has only fired two shots on goal with zero points through four games, will be the scratch for tonight.
- Tuukka Rask will get the start in net Saturday, looking to build off his first win of the season on Monday against the Senators.

- The rebuilding Red Wings are looking to get back on track Saturday, with Detroit trying to avoid losing its first five games of the season for the first time since the 1980-81 season.
- Detroit hasn’t had much luck against the B’s as of late, with the Red Wings failing to post a win over Boston in their last eight matchups.
- With Mike Green still sidelined due to illness, the Red Wings have struggled with generating offense from the blue line, but Dylan Larkin has been a bright spot (two goals, two assists) at center.
