BSJ Daily Briefing 09.14.18: Sox bullpen struggles again, Hayward feeling good

Good morning!

  • Another game, another win for the Red Sox, who could conceivably wrap up this division by Sunday if everything goes right. The questions remain regardless as Sean outlines today and I would think it's time for some more tinkering with the bullpen after another rough outing from Joe Kelly. Would like to see Nate Eovaldi get some cracks in middle relief over next couple weeks more, especially if Eduardo Rodriguez is back at full strength.
  • Rex Burkhead was a limited participant in practice yesterday, which gives him a better shot to be cleared for this Sunday against the Jags. Chris has a full scouting report for you on that matchup.
  • Gordon Hayward said yesterday in an encouraging progress report that he didn't care whether he came off the bench or start. It probably won't come up but file that away in case Brad Stevens goes with bigger lineups here and there.
