EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — For a guy who prides himself on being prepared for just about every possible scenario when it comes to the game of football, Nate Solder found himself surprised on Thursday night.
In warmups prior to the preseason finale between the Patriots and Giants, the former New England left tackle was embraced by several of his former Patriots’ teammates. It was a group that included quarterback Tom Brady, offensive linemen LaAdrian Waddle and Joe Thuney and David Andrews, as well as strength and conditioning coach Moses Cabrera. It was a steady stream of former teammates, all part of a receiving line that paid tribute to the left tackle, honoring one of the most respected men in the New England locker room over the last decade.
After the game, Solder said he anticipated the fact he was going to see some of his old teammates beforehand, but was a little taken aback as to how emotional it eventually became.
