Getting hit in the hang brings back bad memories for Bogaerts: Last year, in the first week of July, Xander Bogaerts was hit by a pitch on the fleshy, outer part of his right hand at Tropicana Field -- and was never the same for the rest of the season, limited to the point that he was nearly swinging one-handed for several weeks. On Tuesday night in the ninth inning, Bogaerts took a 99 mph fastball from Philadelphia reliever Seranthony Dominguez on the exact same spot. He later underwent x-rays on the hand which proved negative, but then again, that was the case last year in Tampa. For now, it's a "contusion,'' but Bogaerts was clearly very worried late Tuesday night. Asked if he had flashbacks to last July, Bogaerts immediately answer: "Yup, right away,'' said Bogaerts. "This guy was throwing harder. I wasn't expecting that. As soon as I got hit, I said, 'I can't believe that happened.' It happens. It's part of the game. We'll see how I feel.''
