Good morning!
Some random thoughts while I contemplate exactly what goes on after you win a title in Las Vegas...
- We've covered all the fallout from the Julian Edelman news, but my one parting thought (aside from how this opens TB12 to a closer look — fair or not, it's going to happen) on this is that the power in Bill Belichick/Tom Brady faceoff now definitely belongs to The Hoodie.
- It seemed that while there were certainly other issues between them, Alex Guerrero was the flashpoint. Certainly, Belichick giving ground on Guerrero would have solved a lot of issues, but that's not going to happen now — no matter how many press releases Guerrero issues.
- "Anyone who would suggest otherwise is irresponsible, and just plain wrong." The gall of this guy. If you train players, and those players tout your all-knowing ability, and then said player tests positive for PEDs, the trainer is going to be looked at. It's going to happen.
- If I was out there saying BSJ will change sports journalism, we're the future, and that we're holier than thou when it comes to sports coverage ... and then some freelancer gets busted for plagiarism, would I get a ton of criticism? Heck yeah, of course I would (the Twittership of the Miserable would love that). Would it be fair? No. How can I be responsible for the source of every single word from every single person who does work for BSJ? But it would happen. That's just the deal when you put yourself out there like Guerrero and Brady have.
- All right, enough of that nonsense.
- Some great sports moments last night with Alex Ovechkin finally winning the Cup. T.J. Oshie talking about his father was terrific as well.
- Nice clock issue in the final minute of the game. Imagine if that happened in a Super Bowl hosted by the Patriots....
- Alex Cora said that Blake Swihart "did his best" in his start behind the plate last night. Wait a minute ... isn't Swihart a catcher by trade, and a professional one at that? And we're giving him participation trophies? What am I missing? They must think Swihart is a terrible catcher.
