BSJ Daily Briefing 06.04.18: Sox storm back in Houston but time of game was brutal, Gronk's already at Gillette today

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while we wait for a needed deluge (please?)...

• What a difference two days make. On Friday night, after dropping the second game of a four-game set to the Astros (and really not being that competitive) when Chris Sale started, things were not looking good for the Sox.


• You could feel the conversation turning to them being paper champion-ish and that we're heading to another postseason where the Sox are another step back from the Astros and Yankees.


• Then the Sox stormed back with their bats — and big assists from David Price (yup) and Rick Porcello — to take the final two games, and suddenly they look like world beaters.


• On Saturday night, the Sox became the first team to 40 wins, and in 59 games. The last three teams to start at least 40-19 went on to win the World Series. So did the 1986 Olde Towne Team ... but we don't talk about that.


• BTW, please don't tell me Red Sox-Astros is going to be played at Sox-Yankees pace from now on; I can't take it. Time of game this weekend: 3:41 (Saturday), 3:25 (Sunday). That's unwatchable. Who has 3.5 hours to watch any sporting event that doesn't have a 20-minute halftime break and copious amounts of beer?


• The end of that game last night was just brutal. They have to get these guys to stay in the box, and the pitcher to throw the damn ball.


• Patriots will be on the field for three days starting Tuesday, but many are already there as part of today's Patriots Fantasy Camp.


• Already in the house? Robert James Gronkowski.


• Yeah, the Cavs getting blown out last night wasn't predictable or anything. They took their best shot in Game 1, blew it with an assist from the refs, and were in regroup mode last night.


• And Steph Curry was in mad bomber mode.
