Rob Gronkowski was part of a surprise Saturday press conference promoting a motocross event at Gillette Stadium. In full dirtbiking gear, he was asked why he hadn’t shown up to last week’s voluntary workouts for his other job.

“Training for this dirt-biking,” he told reporters.

Gronkowski was noncommittal after the Super Bowl when he was asked about playing in 2018, and has sent out a series of cryptic messages on social media about his future. On Saturday, he was asked when he plans on making a decision on whether or not he’s going to play.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I’ve got to see how my riding goes.”

The tight end was also asked if he plans on attending the optional workouts that are coming up.

“No,” he replied. “I’ve got dirt-biking skills to work on.”

There was also this exchange.

"What do you have to say to your fans who are wondering whether you're coming back?"

"They're going to see a freek-a-leek when I come back. That's what."

"So you're coming back?"

"Maybe."
