Sale dominant in shorter stint: Due to the miserable conditions -- 34 degrees at gametime -- Sale was on a short leash. He left after five innings and 93 pitches, and Alex Cora revealed that he was tempted to take Sale out after just four innings because of the cold. But while Sale was in, he dominated. He gave up a run three batters in, but thereafter, he retired 14 of the last 16 hitters he faced and didn't allow another hit. He racked up eight strikeouts and allowed only two balls out of the infield all afternoon. "Going into the game,'' said Cora, "we knew the conditions were going to be (miserable) and for us to give us five and a chance to win the game -- that's what we were asking for.''
