LaAdrian Waddle has agreed to a one-year deal with the Patriots, according to a league source.

The 26-year-old has played in 15 regular-season games for the Patriots over the past two-plus years, including 12 contests (and four starts) in 2017 at right tackle. The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder should be in the mix for significant snaps in 2018, as New England lost starting left tackle Nate Solder in free agency to the Giants.

What does this mean for the Patriots?

While Cameron Fleming’s situation is still uncertain -- he remains an unrestricted free agent -- Waddle is now part of the conversation when you’re talking about the Patriots’ starting offensive line for 2018. Waddle, as well as Tony Garcia (who sat out all last season because of health issues), newcomer Matt Tobin and youngsters Cole Croston and Andrew Jelks could all also figure into the mix, at least at this point on the calendar. In addition, New England also figures to invest at the spot come draft weekend. While Waddle isn't the second coming of Jonathan Ogden, this gives them another familiar face at the position for the coming season.
