-- As expected, there was no shortage of action on the first day of the legal tampering period. Multiple reports indicated that Nate Solder (Houston and Denver), Malcolm Butler (Houston and Detroit) and Dion Lewis (Indianapolis) were all in heavy demand across the league. The Butler-to-Detroit stuff is hardly surprising, given the way Matt Patricia has talked about him over the years.
--Meanwhile, I spoke with someone close to Lewis on Monday night, and while they acknowledged the running back was drawing some interest, they were reticent to name specific teams. I also had a chance to connect with a source close to LaAdrian Waddle, who said the same thing. Marquis Flowers is getting some interest from teams around the league, per a source I spoke with. And for what it's worth, I still believe if the Patriots are able to keep the dollars competitive, Solder will stay.
--Across the league, there was plenty of action, mostly by teams interested in squaring things away financially before the free-agent buffet opens on Wednesday afternoon. Among the moves, the Dolphins were poised to release defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the Chiefs cut linebacker Tamba Hali (and have added Sammy Watkins) and the Raiders parted ways with cornerback Sean Smith.
--That doesn't mean there weren't agreements put in place to be executed on Wednesday. The Broncos are apparently ready to sign Case Keenum, while Keenum's old team is extending feelers to Drew Brees. (Although it's starting to look more and more like he's going to stay in New Orleans.) The Jaguars have added guard Andrew Norwell, the best interior offensive lineman in free agency. The Bears have agreed on a deal with wide receiver Allen Robinson. And kudos to the Bills, who keep inching their way up the draft order with trade after trade -- the deal left tackle Cordy Glenn to the Bengals, and swapped first rounders with Cincy. Buffalo is now picking 12th overall, and might just have enough draft capital to finagle a quarterback out of this year's draft.
