WALTHAM -- The Celtics announced on Monday afternoon that Marcus Smart will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a sprained right thumb during Sunday's loss to the Pacers. Shams Charania of the Vertical reports that Smart suffered a torn tendon in his right thumb and will be out for a significant amount of time to recover from the injury.

The injury adds to a lengthy list of hobbled Celtics entering the final month of the regular season. Daniel Theis and Gordon Hayward are out for the year, while Jaylen Brown, Kyrie Irving and now Smart are all expected to miss some extended time due to their various ailments.
