Rob Gronkowski, Deatrich Wise miss practice again, Tom Brady removed from injury report

Let’s start with the understanding that it’s always a challenge trying to forecast the health of a player when the team holds a walkthrough. Even moreso when purely hypothetical game situations are involved.

But in the two-week run-up to the Super Bowl, it gets even crazier, as each team has to offer a Friday injury report that includes a hypothetical game status report if the game was going to be played that Sunday. Recipe for drama? Sure.


With all that being said, it was interesting to see the Patriots announce Friday that after their walkthrough, if the Super Bowl was played this Sunday, both Rob Gronkowski and Deatrich Wise would be ruled out because of concussions. Both of them suffered the injury in the AFC title game, and both did not practice all week.

The good news? The game isn’t played this weekend, so don't jump ahead to Defcon One quite yet. Take it with a grain of salt. But it will fuel more speculation about the health status of the big tight end and the defensive end as the game draws closer.

The Patriots also removed quarterback Tom Brady (right hand) and Devin McCourty (shoulder) from the injury report. In addition, three players were listed as questionable: defensive lineman Malcom Brown (foot), running back Mike Gillislee (knee) and offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle (knee).
