Boston Bruins rookie defenseman Charlie McAvoy missed practice on Monday at Warrior Ice Arena and will be examined by a team doctor for an undisclosed injury, according to coach Bruce Cassidy.
“He had a scheduled doctor’s appointment. He’s there and we’ll have an update later,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy said this appointment was scheduled “a while ago” and the team will make an announcement if there’s something going on. Cassidy also said there’s a possibility McAvoy will not play against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday at TD Garden.
McAvoy, 20, has five goals and 20 assists for 25 points, including a plus-18 in 45 games this season. The top-pairing defenseman is averaging 22:49 of ice time per game.
