Tom Brady did not practice Thursday, as Doug Marrone continues to sing his praises

FOXBOROUGH — Tom Brady did not participate in Thursday's practice, which will only stoke fears about his right-hand injury.

While Brady pushing back his media availability to Friday — as he did today — is not usual, Brady not practicing on a Thursday, in the second-to-last practice before the AFC Championship Game is highly unusual.

None of the players in the locker room would comment on Brady's injury.

According to various videos and pictures of Brady's right hand, it appears to be a right thumb injury.

Regardless of the level of intrigue around Brady’s right thumb, it doesn’t sound like Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone is thinking the Jags will have some sort of advantage going into Sunday’s AFC title game.

“I’m sure he can probably throw it left-handed if he had a problem with the right hand,” Marrone told reporters who asked about Brady Thursday morning.

In the wake of a reported thumb injury he sustained in Wednesday’s practice session, Brady was spotted at practice with gloves on both hands, a non-traditional approach for the veteran quarterback, who has said in the past he usually favors just one glove.

“Early in my career, I tried using a glove on my throwing hand a little bit. It didn’t go too well. I think it’s better without,” Brady said earlier this season when he was asked about the possibility of playing with two gloves in the freezing cold weather. “But still, it’s tricky.”

One glove, two gloves or no gloves, Marrone — who faced four times in Buffalo as a head coach in 2013-2014 and multiple times as an assistant before that — knows what he’s in for come Sunday afternoon.

“It’s always amazing when you go out (during pregame warmups) and watch him,” Marrone said of Brady. “You see a lot of quarterbacks who have to go out and have to warm up. He can literally go pick up a ball and throw it and you would think that he’s ready to go. When you’re in this league, you watch a lot of quarterbacks warm up and they all warm up and get themselves ready to go. I really think he’s one of the most naturally gifted throwers that I personally have ever seen. He can pick the ball up any day and just throw it.”

In other injury news, RT LaAdrian Waddle (knee) did not participate after being limited Wednesday. Alan Branch (knee), Rex Burkhead (knee) and Mike Gillislee (knee) were limited.

For the Jaguars, starting FS Tashaun Gipson (foot) did not practice for the second-straight day. SS Barry Church (shoulder), RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) and DT Malik Jackson (ankle) were limited.
