Bruins' Brad Marchand named to 2018 NHL All-Star team

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been named to the 2018 NHL All-Star team for the second consecutive season. Marchand leads the Bruins in scoring this season with 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points in 32 games, including a plus-19 rating.

"Initially, I was a little shocked," Marchand said of his selection. "We have some great teammates that deserve to be there, and I expected them to be there. Very, very honored, very excited to be given the opportunity, and very proud to be part of this game again."



Since his rookie season of 2010-11, Marchand leads the league with a plus-178 and has 209 goals and 205 assists for 414 points in 556 games. The Bruins entered this bye week with an 11-1-3 record in their last 15, and have earned points in 11 straight with an 8-0-3 record, but despite the team's success, Marchand is the sole representative for his team at the All-Star game.

"I am very happy, very proud again," Marchand said. "It speaks volumes to how well our team is playing and coming together. I think we all benefit from that, so it is great to see how successfully as a team we are all coming together."

The All-Star game will be held at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Jan. 28.
