With new photo surfacing, has Gordon Hayward’s recovery timeline changed? Checking in with Dr. Flynn

(Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports)

Danny Ainge got Celtics fans very worked up on Tuesday when he posted a photo of Gordon Hayward not wearing an ankle brace during what appears to be a rehab session at the pool.

The public reveal and Hayward's followup eye emojis obviously fueled speculation progress with his recovery. With that in mind, I decided to check in with BostonSportsJournal.com medical expert Dr. Jessica Flynn.

Flynn has been on top of Hayward's injury since opening night about a potential return this year so I asked her what (if anything) we can learn the picture, where Hayward likely stands in his recovery, what the next checkpoints are for him in rehab process and the potential risks for Hayward if he's pushing for a return to the floor this season. What would be realistic expectations for him if that were to happen?

Q: Celtics fans are obviously really excited about Danny Ainge's picture showing Gordon Hayward without a brace today at the pool. Can we really take anything from it in regards to his recovery, if he's actually moving around without a brace now?
