So is Sunday Mike Gillislee’s big chance?
The news that the Patriots ruled running back Rex Burkhead (knee) and defensive lineman Alan Branch (knee) out Friday could clear a path for Gillislee to see the field on Sunday for the first time since Week 8. Gillislee has taken multiple healthy scratches in that period, as he’s been the odd man out in the running back rotation.
In eight games this year, the 5-foot-11, 208-pounder has 98 carries for 355 yards and four touchdowns.
In addition, eight other players, including wide receiver Chris Hogan, running back James White, offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle and linebacker Kyle Van Noy are all questionable for Sunday.
Here’s the complete injury report:
Out
DL Alan Branch (knee — DNP)
RB Rex Burkhead (knee — DNP)
