Both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick addressed the Alex Guerrero situation on Friday.
Speaking in the morning prior to practice, Belichick was asked about Guerrero’s access being restricted. Belichick initially said that he wasn’t going to get into it because “no sources” were mentioned, but added that many individuals work with the team who aren’t necessarily employed by the team.
“Look, we have a lot of people that work for our team outside of the team, and there are different relationships, different situations with dozens of other people,” Belichick said. “So, I’m not going to go through a case-by-case of what everybody does and so forth. That would be impossible to do, and I’m not going to do it.”
For what it’s worth, Belichick indicated that his working relationship with Brady remains excellent.
"He's great to work with," Belichick said of the quarterback. "Nobody is more prepared than Tom. Tom is always ready to go, always on top of it. He really takes coaching well. He has a lot of good ideas.”
After practice, the quarterback was asked about the impact of not having Guerrero on the sidelines.
“I don’t think about it,” Brady said. “I’ve got enough things to think about, so I’m going to go try and win an important game and do what I always do.”
He was then asked about conversations between him and Belichick regarding Guerrero. That led to an edgy exchange with a reporter about what was said between the two of them. Ultimately, Brady said the two speak frequently, but those discussions will stay between the two of them.
“I have a lot of conversations with him,” Brady said of Belichick. “Those are private between he and I. I don’t think anybody knows what we talk about -- or I’ve never (told anyone) and he’s never talked about it.
Has the speculation about Guerrero impacted his relationship with Belichick?
“No, I just try to show up and do the right thing and try to win football games," Brady said. "I let my play do the talking. I try to go out there and I prepare hard every week and I put everything into it. That’s where my focus is. It’s not much beyond that.”
