On a Sunday where the Patriots weren’t playing, here are a few quick thoughts on how things shook out around the league from a New England perspective.
1. No Christmas card from Bill Belichick to John Harbaugh this year. Not quite sure how the Ravens — who were up by nine with just under seven minutes to go — collectively botched that one, but they did. The Steelers came roaring back down the stretch and held on for the 39-38 victory, holding up their end when it came to Dec. 17 game against the Patriots that will now probably determine home field in the AFC. It was an offensive explosion for Pittsburgh, which got another 500-plus yards passing from Ben Roethlisberger (44-for-66, 506 yards, two touchdowns), as well as big nights from Antonio Brown (11 catches, 213 yards) and Le’Veon Bell (48 yards rushing, 77 yards receiving, two touchdowns). Roethlisberger and Brown connected on this big play late that helped push Pittsburgh over the top.
