BSJ Daily Briefing 12.10.17: Bruins starting to roll, BC upsets No. 1 Duke

Good (very late) morning (hey, everybody deserves a lazy Sunday morning, no?)!

A few thoughts while we get ready for a rare Patriots-less Sunday:

• Not the prettiest of victories for the Bruins last night over the Islanders but it was one the B's worked hard for and grinded out. I think the more these youngsters play, that's going to be the identity of this team: a lunchpail group that will do what it has to each night.


• Great team defense against the Islanders' top line.


• I know he had to do it, but Jake DeBrusk looked like he instantly regretted fighting Casey Cizikas.


• Tuukka's at his best when his angles are perfect and effortless. Another word for that: boring. And Tuukka's very boring right now. That's good news for the Bruins.


• I expect the Bruins to be in second place in the Atlantic by the time they face the Caps on Dec. 28.

• Great win by the Boston College men's basketball team over top-ranked Duke. Quite a scene at Conte Forum.


• Congratulations to coach Jim Christian and his staff. After a combined 16 wins the previous two seasons, the Eagles are starting to build something. Always looking for sustained success.


• If I know BC PR maven Jason Baum like I think I do, expect to see this phenomenal quote plastered everywhere at BC:

• Ugh, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are already annoying. Wait until they're hitting back-to-back 500-foot dingers all up in your grill.
