Tom Brady taking advantage of longer week: 'Getting a little extra treatment'

Tom Brady said Thursday night that when it comes to him missing practice, people shouldn’t be too worried.


The quarterback missed back-to-back practices on Wednesday and Thursday for the first time all year with what the team said was an Achilles’ injury. But he said he’s just taking advantage of the fact the Patriots have some extra time to prepare prior to the Monday night game in Miami.

“We play on Monday night, so I’m getting a little extra treatment,” he told Westwood One’s Jim Gray Thursday night. “And I’ll be ready to go (Friday). So I’m excited to be back on the field with my teammates (Friday).

“(It’s) just a little extra treatment. I want to be a full-go (and) ready to go Monday night.”

Gray asked Brady for his thoughts on the one-game suspension for Rob Gronkowski, as well as the statement from Buffalo’s Tre'Davious White where he called Gronkowski a “dirty player” after his hit on the Bills defensive back last Sunday.

“It’s an unfortunate situation,” Brady said. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Certainly, (White) is. Rob said his piece after the game. I’ll let him speak for himself. I’ve been a part of football for a long time. It’s a very emotional game. It’s a very intense, physical game. Rob got called for a penalty, and he’s dealing with the ramifications for it. We’re pretty much moved on at this point.”

Gray also asked Brady for his thoughts on Roger Goodell’s new contract, a deal that could net the commissioner upwards of $200 million.

“Maybe he’ll take me out to dinner some time,” laughed Brady.
