The recent re-signing of Jason King caused me to think about the Patriots 2017 UDFA class since King is a member. I was pleasantly surprised by the numbers you will see in the summary.
In descending order by the amount of guaranteed money here is the current status of the 20 members of the 2017 Patriots UDFA class:
Harvey Langi: Had $100,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $15,000 signing bonus. Made the 53-man roster Week 1. Langi was an inactive four of the first five games. During his only active game, he played in six defensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps against the Saints. Langi and his wife were seriously injured in an automobile accident on Oct. 13. Langi was then made an inactive for the two games after the accident. Langi was placed on the NFI (Non-Football Injury) list on Oct. 25 ending his 2017 season. Langi is signed through the 2019 season and is scheduled to become an RFA in 2020.
Jacob Hollister: Had $80,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $10,000 signing bonus. Made the 53-man roster Week 1. Hollister was inactive for the Chiefs game. Since Week 1 he has played in all of the games. Jacob has three receptions for 37 yards. Hollister has played in 6.7 percent of the Patriots' offensive snaps. Hollister is signed through the 2019 season and is scheduled to become an RFA in 2020.
Cole Croston: Had $25,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $6,000 signing bonus. Made the 53-man roster Week 1. Croston was inactive for the first nine games of the season. Has played three snaps in each of the last two games. Croston is signed through the 2019 season and is scheduled to become an RFA in 2020.
Austin Carr: Had $22,500 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $7,500 signing bonus. Was waived on Sept.2 and was claimed on waivers by the Saints the following day. Carr has remained on the Saints' 53-man roster since. Carr has been active for only one game this year.
Cody Hollister: Had $10,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $10,000 signing bonus. Was waived Sept.2. Was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Sept. 3 and has remained on it since.
Brooks Ellis: Had $15,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $6,000 signing bonus. Was waived on Sept. 2. Ellis was signed to the Jaguars practice squad on Nov. 20.
Adam Butler: Had $15,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $5,000 signing bonus. Made the 53-man roster Week 1. Adam has been active for all 11 games while making six starts. Adam Butler has played in 43.9 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps. He is signed through the 2019 season and is scheduled to become an RFA in 2020.
Max Rich: Had $15,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $5,000 signing bonus. Was waived on Sept. 2. He is currently out of the NFL.
Josh Augusta: Had $15,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $1,000 signing bonus. Was waived/injured on Sept. 2. Reached an injury settlement with the Patriots on Sep. 8. He is currently out of the NFL
Corey Vereen: Had $10,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived/injured on June 5. Reached an injury settlement with the Patriots on Sep. 4. He is currently out of the NFL
Jason King: Had $5,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $5,000 signing bonus was waived on Sept. 2. King was signed to the Patriots' practice squad on Sept. 20. Was released from it on Oct. 9. He was then signed to the Ravens' practice squad on Halloween and was released from it on Nov. 14. King was signed to the Patriots 53-man roster on Nov.28. Jason was waived from the 53-man roster on Dec. 2.
David Jones: Had $5,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2. Was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Sep. 3 and has remained on it since.
Dwayne Thomas: Had $5,000 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived Aug. 11. Was signed to the Jaguars 90-man roster Aug. 14. Was waived by the Jaguars Sep. 1. He is currently out of the NFL.
LeShun Daniels: Had $2,500 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2. Was signed to the Chargers practice squad Oct.3. Was released from it Oct. 16. Signed to Washington's practice squad oNov. 15. Six days later was promoted to their 53-man roster.
Kenny Moore: Had $2,500 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2 and was claimed on waivers by the Colts the following day. Moore has remained on the Colts' 53-man roster since. He has played in every Colts game this season.
Jason Thompson: Had $2,500 of his salary guaranteed while receiving a $1,000 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2. The Bears signed him to their practice squad Oct. 2 and released him from it two weeks later. He is currently out of the NFL.
Damarius Travis: Received a $2,500 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2. Was signed to the Patriots practice squad Sept. 3 and has remained on it since.
Andrew Jelks: Did not have any money guaranteed. Was placed on the NFI list on July 24. Started practicing with the team on Nov. 7 and was not activated by the end of the three-week practice deadline so he will remain on the NFI list for the rest of the season. Jelks is signed through '19 and is scheduled to become an ERFA, not a RFA, in '20 because '17 will not count as an accrued season.
Sam Cotton: Did not have money guaranteed while receiving a $10,000 signing bonus. Was waived Sept. 2 and remains out of the NFL.
