Cassidy announces goalie schedule for upcoming road trip

Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy announced Friday that Tuukka Rask will start against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. Backup Anton Khudobin will get the nod against the Nashville Predators on Monday at Bridgestone Arena.



Rask has solid numbers against the Flyers, posting a 12-2-3 record in 18 career games, including a 2.10 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He also has strong numbers against the Predators (4-1-2/2.33/.919) but it's important to keep Khudobin in the mix since he's playing well this season. Overall, he's 7-0-2 with a 2.22 GAA and a .932 SP in 10 games. He's 1-1-0 against the Predators.

Last week I posted a seasonal forecast  for which games both goalies would start. I've been off a couple of games, but the point is when both goalies are playing well, it gives Cassidy a lot more options. Since Rask has played well the last two games, and the schedule isn't that tight the next few games, I thought he would get at least four consecutive starts. But, this is where Cassidy's preseason plan comes into play and the importance of keeping both goalies sharp.
