BSJ Daily Briefing 11.05.17: A night at BU, and congrats Shalane Flanagan! taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Derik Hamilton/USA TODAY Sports)

Good late morning/afternoon!

Took advantage of the Patriots' bye week to take the family to the Boston University-Northeastern Hockey game last night, and to sleep a little. One of things I love about living here is that on a free night, you can look up the Hockey East, ECAC or Atlantic Hockey schedules — and their counterparts in basketball — and find a game to go to that is relatively affordable and fun for the family.

I mean, we paid $100 for last night's game as a family, which is the equivalent to one Bruins ticket. Sorry, but I'm never paying for that. No way.

A good time was had by all at Agganis.

  • Quite a week for the Huskies. They swept UMass-Lowell in back-to-back games, and then went into Agganis and had their way with the Terriers, 4-1.

  • Nice hat trick from Nolan Stevens.

  • Didn't think BU played all that poorly, it was just the Huskies capitalized on every opportunity they had, and the Terriers did not.

  • There were 10 penalties between the two teams in the final period, and none of them involved actually playing the game.

  • Apparently, suck is a popular word at college sporting events.
