FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots had five players who didn’t take part in practice on Wednesday, a group that included linebacker Dont’a Hightower (shoulder), wide receive Danny Amendola (knee) and cornerback Eric Rowe (groin).
Joining the DNPs were linebacker Harvey Langi (placed on NFI) and defensive tackle Malcom Brown (ankle).
Cornerback Stephon Gilmore (concussion/ankle) was limited in his return to the practice field. He was part of a group of players that included defensive linemen Cassius Marsh (shoulder) and Lawrence Guy (chest), tight end Jacob Hollister (ankle) and linebacker Elandon Roberts (ankle).
UPDATE, 9:21 p.m.: A report from the Boston Herald suggests that Hightower will not be able to play this weekend, and his shoulder issue could leave him sidelined "a bit longer" than just a week. The report stresses that "the timetable" for his return "remains undefined, as they’re still evaluating the extent of the injury."
