BSJ Daily Briefing 10.17.17: New Celtics era begins taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Jason Getz/USA TODAY Sports)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I dig my old Celtics pajamas out of the closet:

  • Can't wait to finally get a real look at the new Celtics tonight, against LeBron James and the Cavs of all people. Great measuring stick.

  • Heard owner Wyc Grousbeck on with Felger & Mazz yesterday. He was definitely trying to temper expectations for his team, which tells me the Celtics really like this team. I was blown away by the level of execution and flow to the offense for a team

  • Too bad Isaiah is still dealing with his hip injury. When he returns, the drama will be delicious.

  • Please be Alex Cora. Please be Alex Cora. Please be Alex Cora.

  • I thought the tail end of Bill Belichick's conference call yesterday, when he basically said the team shouldn't be expected to be executing at a high level was a bunch of excuse making. We'll talk more about that on Felger & Mazz today.

  • Yes, I'll be back on the show. I wasn't really not going to come back. Just when Felger asked me about it last week, I was so angry for reasons that I laid out here and my mind was going in so many directions, I didn't know what to say. Look, I'm not a person to stay mad or hold grudges, and I was over it the next day. We're moving on.

  • Make sure you stick close to BSJ today. B-Robb has a bunch of season preview stuff going up that will get you ready for the season.
