The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday night that defenseman Torey Krug (broken jaw) and forward Austin Czarnik (unspecified illness) have been placed on injured reserve. Also, defenseman Emil Johansson (concussion) has been designated as an injured/non-roster player.
Defenseman Rob O'Gara has been assigned to the P-Bruins. The Bruins' 23-man roster now has 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies. That means Matt Grzelcyk will be on the opening-night roster. His skills, especially on the power play, will fill the void left by Krug's absence.
The Bruins also signed goalie Kyle Keyser to a three-year entry-level deal. The 18-year-old netminder played well last month at the Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, N.Y. He's playing for the Oshawa Generals and already has a 2-1 record with a 3.50 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
