Pats suspect Julian Edelman has torn ACL, according to reports taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

Julian Edelman went down with a right knee injury in the first quarter of Friday's game and the early indications about the severity of the injury are not encouraging for Patriots fans. Sources confirmed to Greg Bedard of Bostonsportsjournal.com that the Patriots suspect that Edelman suffered a torn right ACL, but do not definitively know at this point. An MRI on Saturday will reveal the full extent of the injury. Adam Schefter of ESPN.com was first to report that the Patriots fear a torn ACL.

The report lines up with the injury analysis from Dr. Jessica Flynn of the Boston Sports Journal from earlier Friday evening.

As Edelman plants his right foot, you can see it buckle into what we call a “valgus” position, where the right knee bends inward. The fact that this is a non-contact buckling injury in this position makes me very concerned that the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was stressed and possibly injured.

More on Edelman's possible diagnosis coming here at the Boston Sports Journal as it develops this evening...
