BSJ Daily Briefing 08.06.17

(Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports)

What a long, strange trip it's been.

A day that started out in Foxborough at 9:30 a.m., took me to Fenway for my first major-league reporting assignment since (I think) the 2004 Marlins season (a road trip where Trader Jack McKeon cursed me up and down in front of not only the Florida media, but also the Cleveland contingent for a legitimate question — I'll tell that story at some point) finally ended 15 hours later when I arrived back at BSJ Headquarters.

Gotta say, it was pretty fun. Sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone and remember what it was like to be a rookie again. Thanks to all the fine media folks at Fenway for helping me find my way around (it's not easy), and for not hazing me by suggesting I ask David Price a follow up about Eck.

Anyway, let's get going...

Red Sox

Happy with the story I was able to pull out at Fenway after the game. We try to give you something a little different here, so I hope you like my angle on the double play Mookie Betts started in the seventh inning of the Sox' 4-1 win.

My Live Coverage of the victory. Tried to have a little fun with it and the comments.

A quick notebook giving updates on a bunch of guys.

A couple videos of John Farrell talking about Joe Kelly and Dustin Pedroia. (A reminder that if your phone is on vibrate, you won't be able to hear them)

Practice report is here.

Danny Amendola was back at practice and talked about his return this season.

Chris Price has Stephon Gilmore talking about how there are no friends on the field.

Good camp talk with Chris Gasper and Jim Murray.

No Patriots practice, but I'll have a column up by Noon.
1:35 p.m.: White Sox at Red Sox  (Chris Price gets his shot)

This was basically me going from Gillette to Fenway.
