Final: Red Sox 12, Indians 10

From sure win, to certain loss, and back again.

Christian Vazquez belted a walkoff three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to send the Red Sox to wild 12-10 victory over the Cleveland Indians in what was surely the most entertaining and dramatic win of the season.

The Sox seemed headed for a crushing defeat when Craig Kimbrel, charged with protecting a one-run leadin the top of the ninth, allowed a leadoff homer to Francisco Lindor.  Then, after loading the bases on two singles and a walk, wild-pitched home another run home. It was Kimbrel's fourth blown save of the season.

An inning earlier, making his Red Sox debut, Addison Reed gave up a solo homer to the first batter he faced, Carlos Santana, to reduce the margin for error.

The Sox had rallied for a four-run sixth, paced by a bases-clearing double from Eduardo Nunez, who had three hits and four RBI on the night.

Starter Chris Sale weathered his worst start of the season, tagged for seven runs in five innings, including five in his first two frames. Sale had been unscored upon in the second half of the season until Tuesday night.
