Good morning!

Well, that was some first day for BostonSportsJournal.com: nerve-wracking, exhilarating, crazy and, by the end of it, humbling.

By the time we went to sleep, BSJ had logged some numbers that blew us away:

1,052 paid subscriptions

25 Wicked Diehard Lifetime subscriptions

116,389 total pageviews

Wow! Never did we think this little outfit would garner that much attention on the first day, and we can’t thank you enough for it. Your outpouring of support, both through social media and your wallets, backed up (big time) what we hoped for: that Boston would at least entertain an alternative in its crowded sports media landscape that is looking to do things a little differently.

Amazing. The only chance a small, independent company likes ours has is if enough people are willing to take a little risk and give someone a chance. It's a free preview week. A lot of you could have sat back and waited until the paywall went up on Monday to back us. Many of you did not. You saw the promise of the site, the direction we’re heading and you jumped right in. It means the world to us that you put us on your back so early. Monday’s huge day will do more for us than you can imagine. So, again, thank you.

But the type of site and business we want to be certainly won’t be built on one successful day, or 100: we have to continue to bring it day in and day out. We’ll be giving it our all to entice the many others to join you in supporting us.

And if there are any potential advertising partners out there that liked what they saw, please feel free to reach out.

SITE NEWS

Just because I’ve been asked this a bunch: iOS and Android apps are in the process of being approved, and we hope to have them available by the end of the week.

(This is the part where I look back at the day before, and set the table for today)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT

The Sox fell 4-0 in Seattle and Sean McAdam was on the scene. Boston's also in the midst of a serious power outage.

LOOKING BACK

Patriots

My look at why the Patriots wanted Brandin Cooks

Dont’a Hightower and Alan Branch will start camp on the PUP list.

The Patriots are reportedly in talks with CB Brandon Flowers

Devin McCourty and Matthew Slater have no use for 19-0 talk

Football Outsiders provided 5 nuggets on the Pats

Hard-working Chris Price had his initial 53-man volley

Celtics

Brian Robb was thorough looking at all angles of a potential Celtics trade for Kyrie Irving

Austin Ainge opened up to B-Robb on landing Gordon Hayward and the offseason

Red Sox

Top prospect Rafael Devers doesn’t look overwhelmed with the big club in Seattle

McAdam thinks the Sox have come too far only to go so far as the trade deadline nears

Potential trade targets

Bruins

I’m pinch hitting in the short term, so I gave the update on the Ryan Spooner situation, which probably factors into the David Pastrnak deal.

No, I’m not going to be the Bruins writer, although I’d would like to get into the mix at times. And, yes, we have a great hockey writer joining us in three weeks.

WHAT’S ON TAP

Morning: B-Robb (who is so hardcore that he's filing on the way to his honeymoon. Thanks Mrs. Robb!) did his thing on the Isaiah Thomas max contract situation. Don't miss it.

Noon: I’ll have a look at CB Stephon Gilmore for you. Trying something different that I hope you will like. Let me know what you think and we’ll do more of it (Sssh, just don’t tell the NFL about it. Don’t think I have to worry about that around here.) NOTE: This is being delayed due to the fact that the new NFL GamePass player is awful.

1 p.m.: Chris will be chatting all things Patriots and the site in the comments our at Live Q&A. Get your questions in from 12-1 and then Chris will have at it. Sorry free previewers: subscribers only.

Afternoon: Chris will have a Patriots story for you.

2 p.m.: Sean McAdam will be doing a Tweet-up in Seattle at Starbucks on Union between 5th/6th. If you're catching the Sox in Seattle, stop by and say hi!

2-4 p.m.: I’ll be in studio with Felger and Mazz, simulcast on CSNNE and 98.5 The SportsHub. Let’s see if Felgie is being overly sensitive again.

Ok, let's do this again.
