Report: Pats in talks with veteran CB Brandon Flowers

Free agent cornerback Brandon Flowers has been “talking” with the Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Flowers, who has played for the Chargers and Chiefs, is a 31-year-old who has 467 career tackles, three sacks and 20 interceptions over the course of his career. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder visited with the Cardinals last Wednesday, according to Schefter.

It’s worth noting that while Bill Belichick hasn’t talked about Flowers over the last few years, he did refer to him as an “outstanding corner” in this 2011 video via Patriots.com.

“He’s done a great job for the Chiefs, and really has become one of the best corners in the league,’ Belichick told Scott Zolak over a series of video highlights of Flowers in a Kansas City uniform. “A smaller guy — 5-9-ish — but he’s done real well against bigger receivers. … He’s got great ball skills and judgment. Good quickness. He really is a smart player and knows how to read routes and get the receivers covered.

"If you're sloppy with the route or sloppy with the throw, he'll make you pay for it."
